Decades of experience and dedication — from Arkansas, to North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas

Add up the years of service in these four EVS Superhero spotlights, and you get close to eight decades. But the numbers only tell part of the story. What connects GiGi, Cathy, Jena, and Kathy isn’t only tenure. It’s that for each of them, the work is personal. They extend care beyond the job description, and bring the same character to their hospitals that they bring to their grandchildren, their Scout packs, and their kitchens. This EVS Week, we’re proud to introduce four people who prove that a clean, safe, healing environment isn’t produced by only checking off  tasks. It’s produced by people like these.

Going above and beyond in 4 West

This EVS Week, we are proud to rec­og­nize Gre­go­ria “GiGi” Granil­lo, an EVS Tech on 4 West at CHI St. Vin­cent Hot Springs. Since join­ing the team in 2022, GiGi has become a val­ued mem­ber of her depart­ment through her ded­i­ca­tion, atten­tion to detail, and com­mit­ment to excellence.

GiGi is known for always going above and beyond. She takes tremen­dous pride in her work and treats 4 West as her own, ensur­ing no patient room goes untouched. Her com­mit­ment to cre­at­ing a clean, safe, and wel­com­ing envi­ron­ment has earned the respect and appre­ci­a­tion of both her cowork­ers and the patients she serves. As her team describes her, she is tru­ly a shin­ing star.

Out­side of work, GiGi’s great­est pride is her grand­chil­dren, who bring her joy and inspi­ra­tion. Those who work along­side her know her as some­one who con­sis­tent­ly demon­strates the same care and ded­i­ca­tion in every­thing she does.

Cathy “KT” Aikens

The quiet generosity of a 50-year career

This EVS Week, we are proud to rec­og­nize Cathy “KT” Aikens, an Envi­ron­men­tal Ser­vices team mem­ber on the Cross­roads Adult Men­tal Health Unit at Car­oli­naEast Med­ical Cen­ter. With near­ly 50 years of ser­vice to the hos­pi­tal, includ­ing 38 years on Cross­roads, Cathy has made a last­ing impact on patients, staff, and the entire organization.

Cathy is known not only for main­tain­ing one of the clean­est units in the hos­pi­tal, but also for the com­pas­sion and dig­ni­ty she shows every per­son she meets. Col­leagues describe her as kind, wel­com­ing, respect­ful, and deeply com­mit­ted to the patients she serves. Whether she is iden­ti­fy­ing a poten­tial safe­ty con­cern, help­ing a cowork­er, or mak­ing some­one laugh, Cathy con­sis­tent­ly goes above and beyond.

Her gen­eros­i­ty extends far beyond her dai­ly respon­si­bil­i­ties. Over the years, Cathy has qui­et­ly pro­vid­ed cloth­ing, shoes, uni­forms, food, and finan­cial sup­port to patients and cowork­ers fac­ing hard­ships. Her actions reflect the same care and ded­i­ca­tion she brings to her work every day.

Thank you, Cathy, for nearly five decades of excellence, compassion, and service. Your dedication to patients, coworkers, and the Crossroads community embodies the spirit of Environmental Services.
 

Jena Harsh
EVS Supervisor
West Campus  — Trinity Health System

Focusing on teamwork, on and off the clock

This EVS Week, we are proud to rec­og­nize Jena Harsh, EVS Super­vi­sor for the West cam­pus of Trin­i­ty Health Sys­tem. Dur­ing her five years in Envi­ron­men­tal Ser­vices, Jena has grown from an EVS Tech into a lead­er­ship role, demon­strat­ing strong lead­er­ship qual­i­ties from the very beginning.

Jena approach­es each day with a focus on team­work and doing what is best for patients and fel­low team mem­bers. As a super­vi­sor, she has embraced the oppor­tu­ni­ty to help grow and strength­en her team. Her orga­ni­za­tion, lead­er­ship, and abil­i­ty to keep every­one focused help the depart­ment work toward a shared goal.

Out­side of work, Jena has served as an adult leader with Boy Scouts of Amer­i­ca since 2018 and cur­rent­ly serves as Cub­mas­ter for her local pack. She finds it reward­ing to watch young peo­ple grow, devel­op con­fi­dence, and pre­pare for the next stage of their Scout­ing jour­ney. Her com­mit­ment to help­ing oth­ers suc­ceed is evi­dent both in her com­mu­ni­ty involve­ment and in the lead­er­ship she brings to her EVS team.

Kathy Neblett-Dunn

St. Joseph Bryan Regional Hospital

21 years of care you can count on

This EVS Week, we are proud to rec­og­nize Kathy Neblett-Dunn, EVS Lead Tech at St. Joseph Bryan Region­al Hos­pi­tal. With 21 years of ser­vice in Envi­ron­men­tal Ser­vices, Kathy brings expe­ri­ence, con­sis­ten­cy, and a strong under­stand­ing of the department’s mission.

Kathy helps guide dai­ly oper­a­tions with care and atten­tion. She com­pletes every respon­si­bil­i­ty with urgency while nev­er los­ing sight of the peo­ple behind the work. Kathy gen­uine­ly cares about patients and their expe­ri­ence, and that com­mit­ment can be seen in the depend­able, thor­ough way she sup­ports the hos­pi­tal and the EVS team. 

Those who work with Kathy describe a respect­ed and respon­si­ble leader who is reli­able, fun to work with, and deeply com­mit­ted to the team’s pur­pose. Kathy is proud of the hospital’s work helps, and knows that EVS ser­vice con­tributes to the clean, safe envi­ron­ment that makes patient care pos­si­ble. 

Out­side of work, Kathy enjoys cook­ing and bak­ing, bring­ing the same care and atten­tion to activ­i­ties Kathy enjoys per­son­al­ly.
